Jack was born in the 80s in Liberia, the “land of freedom”, which was then led by Staff Sergeant Samuel Doe, who carried out a coup d’etat and established a dictatorship in the country. He grew up as a completely ordinary child, nothing special and without any special talents. But soon the Liberian civil war began, during which his parents were killed. Solidus Snake took him with him (Solidus Snake), who became Jack’s godfather. The child was enrolled in the ranks of child soldiers, where he was taught combat techniques. Since children of his age were quite capricious and freedom-loving, the instructors and Solidus himself sought to make it easier to control them. Intimidation, psychological pressure, starvation and even torture were used for this purpose. However, such monstrous measures were soon supplemented by the addition of gunpowder to food. This substance contains toluene – methylbenzene, which has a weak narcotic and highly toxic effect. To reduce the likelihood of hypoxia (oxygen starvation), the leaders of the “children’s army” gave them the drug in extremely small quantities, which, however, was enough to suppress the will of any child.
Soon Jack became a test subject in a doctor’s experiment. The latter injected him with a certain drug, which most likely made his body almost immune to toluene. Subsequently, Solidus continued to teach Jack how to fight, putting into his head the idea of the highest nobility of edged weapons. This thought was etched into his memory due to the fact that Solidus uttered it while cutting his enemy’s throat. Later, under the strict guidance of Solidus, Jack became a real killing machine that killed enemies without even thinking about why and why all these deaths were needed. His incredible cruelty became legendary among adult soldiers and his own fellow soldiers, who gave him the nickname "Jack the Ripper" (Jack the Ripper) and "White Demon" (White Devil). At the age of six he receives his personal Kalashnikov assault rifle, and at the age of ten he becomes the leader of his own squad of child killers.
After the end of the war in Liberia, Solidus placed Jack in a relief center, but American non-governmental organizations secretly monitored Solidus’s every move and controlled the organization "Patriots", took Jack and several other children from his unit to the USA. The “White Demon” undergoes a huge number of medical examinations and after them a huge number of nanomachines are introduced into his cerebral cortex, connected by a single marking structure and which were capable of manipulating the memory of the carrier. The Patriots decided that Jack was the best candidate to join the FOXHOUND squad. The reason was the fact that Jack realized the significance of his own actions and hated his past, unlike other children who came to terms with their own sins.
Jack shows his excellent fighting qualities in the ranks of the US Army, although after that he is not included in gene therapy program. However it starts to pass VR training (training in virtual reality – approx. author), designed to sharpen skills. He also undergoes an exact recreation of the operation on Shadow Moses Island, after which the picture of the incident that happened in 2005 becomes crystal clear to him. After VR training, he leaves the US Army, namely on January 20, 2007.
April 30, in New York he meets a girl named Rose, with whom he gets into a rather funny argument regarding King Kong. After breaking up, they meet again, which develops into love. They begin dating, but Jack remains extremely closed to her and even refuses to sleep in the same bed with her, for fear of offending or hitting her. Rose subsequently enters his room without permission and discovers that there is nothing in it except a desk and a bed. In reality, Rose was acting as a spy for the Patriots, who wanted complete control over Jack’s life.
Already in 2009, shortly before the incident at the Big Shell refinery, Jack was invited to the supposedly reformed high-tech division FOXHOUND. The Patriots Project has begun.
2009. Big Shell Incident.
In 2009, Jack is sent to Big Shell (Big Shell), captured by terrorists who call themselves the “Sons of Liberty” (Sons of Liberty), which includes an anti-terrorist group Dead Cell and Russian mercenaries under the leadership Olga Gurlukovich. Terrorists are holding the US President hostage James Johnson along with "nuclear suitcase", as well as a secret service agent Richard Ames. The villains’ demand is $30 billion, otherwise the oil and all the chemicals inside the treatment plant will spill into the sea, which will lead to the largest environmental disaster in history. Jack’s task is to neutralize the terrorists and free the hostages. But we also know something else. The invaders are led by none other than.. Solid Snake, died in 2007 during an operation on tanker "Discovery".
Jack was originally given the call sign "Snake", but then Colonel Campbell changes it to "Raiden". The reason was a banal “same name” with the terrorist leader.
When Raiden swims up to the protective net, he sees a gap in it, and it is clearly artificial. This leads him to believe that someone has already managed to enter the building before him. His suspicions are soon confirmed when he sees a large number of incapacitated mercenaries and also catches a glimpse of a person taking the elevator to the upper levels of the plant.

Walking inside, he encounters Vamp (Vamp) – a member of Dead Cell, whom Raiden does not even want to consider as a person. It was he who caused the death of the rescue squad. During a skirmish with a “blood-sucking psychopath,” Pliskin is injured, and the Dead Cell member himself escapes unharmed.
During a conversation with Iroquois, Raiden learns three things: first, Solid Snake is indeed dead, and the terrorist leader cannot be him, since DNA identification was carried out; secondly, Dead Cell consists of four members: Vampa, Fortuna (Fortune), Fatman (Fatman) and George Sears (George Sears), former US President and, in fact, the founder of the unit; and thirdly, Iroquois tells Raiden that FOXHOUND has been disbanded. This sows a seed of doubt in the operative’s soul.
Moving inside the complex, Raiden witnesses the clash between Bravo Squad and Fortuna. The SEALs are trying to shoot the rebel, but the bullets bend around her, as if some unknown force is protecting her from death. Since Raiden was under orders to conceal his own presence at the plant, he decided not to interfere in the conflict. He sees Vamp taking with him the unconscious President Johnson and the “nuclear briefcase”. After this, Fortuna, using her railgun, destroys the bridge along with the special forces, cutting off Raiden from the place where they began to hold the president.
Raiden contacts the Colonel and learns that the SEAL landing was only a diversion so that Raiden could infiltrate the Big Shell unhindered. It also becomes known that there are C4 bombs located throughout the complex, which Raiden did not know how to defuse – such situations were not provided for in VR training. With the help of bomber Peter Stillman (Peter Stillman) and Pliskin, the agent manages to defuse all the bombs, but the shutdown of all devices provoked the detonation of a much more powerful charge, which destroyed one of the plant’s units and killed Stillman.
Raiden later confronts Fortuna, who asks him to kill her because she no longer wants to live. A little later, Vamp appears, who is hit in the head and stomach by Raiden’s bullets. While Fortuna mourns the death of her friend, the operative leaves unhindered.
Raiden soon sets off to look for the biggest bomb, next to which its creator must surely be – Fatman, who is completely mad and seeks to destroy the entire plant. After defeating him, Raiden finds the charge and disarms it. After this, Pliskin contacts him and tells him about the only way to save the hostages – a helicopter. After the conversation, he encounters Cyborg Ninja (Cyborg-Ninja), similar to the one on Shadow Moses in 2005. He tells him that Ames knows where the President is and tells him how to find him. He also talks about how the room with the hostages is locked with doors that require biometric data of the fighter. It also becomes known that the “nuclear suitcase” was at the plant long before the incident. But the most important thing shocked Raiden.
The entire structure is just a screen for the construction of a new Metal Gear.
Having discovered Ames, Raiden only finds confirmation of the words of the Cyborg Ninja: the purification complex is really just a cover for the development of a new combat vehicle, and the death of the tanker and the oil spill were deliberately provoked. Using a remote microphone, listening to Solidus’s conversation with Revolver Ocelot, he learns of their intentions to create "Outer Heaven". Ames also tells the agent that they did not demand any ransom – their only goal is to activate the new Metal Gear and detonate a nuclear weapon in the upper atmosphere, which will completely cut off power to all of New York and “liberate” it. But from what, Raiden never finds out: Ames dies of a heart attack, and Ocelot reveals him. Cyborg Ninja saves the operative and allows him to escape.
Later, he finally meets the terrorist leader, Solid Snake. However Mohawk reveals that he is the real Solid Snake, and attacks the impostor, whose real name is… Solidus Snake. Using his exoskeleton, he repels Solid’s attacks and jumps into a Harrier fighter piloted by Vamp. Snake asks Raiden to destroy the plane, which he does.
The downed plane is missing Metal Gear RAY, stolen from the Marine Corps two years ago, and takes it with him into the ocean. Raiden thinks that the war machine being built at Big Shell has already been activated. After the battle, Solid tells the operative that he and Otacon have (Otacon) have a common goal: to save Emma Emmerich (Emma Emmerich), one of the designers of Metal Gear and Otacon’s compatible sister.
Believing that the “nuclear suitcase” has already turned on, since Metal Gear RAY suddenly appeared, Raiden goes to the president. Having found it, he learns about the existence of an organization called "Patriots", who secretly control America and the entire world economy. They decide who becomes the next president and set the taxes they want. He says that Solidus is his predecessor, the 43rd President of the United States, George Sears, who organized the Shadow Moses incident five years ago. But because of this antics, the Patriots suspended him. If Johnson just wanted to become one of the Patriots, then Solidus decided to challenge them. Raiden also learns that RAY is not a new Metal Gear.
In fact, the newest model in this line of weapons is Arsenal Gear – a huge underwater fortress, equipped with the latest technology. There is an AI inside the ship G.W, capable of directly controlling information flows. And the goal of the Patriots is to establish absolute control over the Internet, over all types of digital information, so that the degree of control of society reaches its peak, and their existence remains a secret to everyone. And only its chief designer, Emma Emmerich, can stop GW.
After talking to Ryden, Johnson gives him a virus that can destroy the AI and asks him to kill himself so that the nuclear weapon and underwater fortress will not be activated. However, the president is killed by Ocelot, who subsequently escaped.
The agent goes looking for Emma. Along the way, he meets Vamp and is left confused because he does not understand how he survived being hit in the head by his bullet. After defeating him, he finally finds Emma and questions her regarding the capabilities of GW and Arsenal Gear. He learns that the AI has not yet been finalized and he has to get used to all the data that is on the Internet, and also understands how dangerous the ship is, and decides to stop it at any cost.
Raiden and Emma go to the center of the complex to introduce a virus into the system. To get there, you need to cross a floating bridge that can only support one. Emma goes alone to the central computer, but halfway there she is taken hostage by Vamp. A well-aimed shot to the head sends him into the ocean, but Emma is severely stabbed and falls unconscious. Snake delivers a wounded girl to a wing of the building. Having reached the computer, Raiden and Snake begin to install the virus, but the installation is stopped by the antivirus at 90 percent. Emma dies in the arms of Otacon, who subsequently comes to terms with the death of his sister and goes to rescue the hostages.
Soon Raiden is found by the Cyborg Ninja, who does not touch Snake, but reveals his true face. It was Olga Gurlukovich. She knocks out Raiden and takes him with her to Arsenal Gear. The agent woke up already in the torture room, where Solidus reminds him of his past and their relationship. Olga later talks to Raiden and explains her behavior by saying that she is an agent of the Patriots and must help him, otherwise they will kill her child. Rose soon contacts Raiden and asks him about his past. Raiden learns that Rose was a spy for the Patriots and that she is pregnant.
Later, Raiden is freed by Olga and he, completely naked and unarmed, finds Snake and all his equipment, having also received a sword from Olga. Solid explains his behavior during Olga’s attack by saying that he needed to infiltrate Arsenal Gear as quickly as possible. Together they move deeper into the ship and are soon contacted by Otacon, who tells Raiden that the colonel, who has been acting very, very strange lately, is not Campbell – he is only a projection created by GW. Snake soon meets with Fortuna, who believes that it was Solid who killed her father, Scott Dolph, on the Discovery tanker in 2007. Raiden leaves Snake alone with Fortuna. Having penetrated into the very heart of the underwater fortress, Raiden learns from Solidus that the incident itself is an exact and most complete copy of what happened on the Fox Archipelago in 2005, and the purpose of this was to create a psychological clone of Solid Snake. He encounters Metal Gear RAYs guarding Arsenal Gear. Having defeated several of them and already preparing to die, he is saved by Olga, who soon dies at the hands of Solidus. After this, Emma’s virus began to affect the functionality of the AI: MG RAY began to malfunction and stopped accepting orders. Solidus, enraged, defeats all of them and curses the Patriots. As soon as Raiden discovers the captured Solid, he loses consciousness.
He woke up already on the roof of Arsenal Gear, rushing at full speed towards Manhattan. Solidus talks about another goal of his – he wants to extract data from GW regarding the location of the Patriots. Soon Ocelot reveals his true identity – he is an agent of the Patriots, who really decided to make Raiden an ideal soldier. He explains to Fortuna the nature of her luck, injures her and jumps into Metal Gear RAY.
Raiden later discovers that Ocelot is now a certain Liquid, which triggered the Arsenal Gear leak for Solid Snake to appear on the Big Shell. Using Ocelot’s knowledge of the Patriots, he now wishes to destroy them all and steals the MG RAY. Snake jumps into the ocean after him.
AG crashes into lower Manhattan, demolishing several banks and skyscrapers and stopping near Federal Hall building. Solidus explains to Raiden the motives for his own actions, explains to him that the “Patriots” took away the rights given to them from people and he wants them back. The AI contacts him and says that the Patriots’ goal was global filtering of information, which is becoming more and more every day. GW orders Raiden to kill Solidus, otherwise Olga’s child and Raiden’s unborn child will be destroyed. He obeys. After the battle with Solidus, he speaks with Snake and is then reunited with the pregnant Rose.
After 2009. The turning point.
After the incident at Big Shell, Raiden and Rose began to live together. He became interested in watching samurai films and studying the art of sword fighting, since the battle with Solidus revealed his love for edged weapons. But the past and memories began to appear more and more often before Raiden’s eyes, which is why he began to get drunk and often get involved in fights. In the end, Jack and Rose break up, and the latter suffers a miscarriage. After this he goes to Big Mame and learns from her where Olga’s daughter is, Sunny.
Penetrating into Area 51 and having taken her from there, he realizes that he will not be able to raise her, and anonymously transfers her to Solid and Otacon. After this, he begins to travel the world, learn to hunt and explore. After all this he tries to take the body Big Boss and hand it over to Big Mom, but is captured, where he is subjected to experiments related to exoskeleton technology. Soon he is rescued by Big Mama’s fighters, but he realizes that there is no turning back, and a normal life is no longer for him. 2014. Liquid’s Rise. Reunion.
Raiden is revealed in 2014 while Solid Snake was in South America. There, using a codec, he tells him that he was looking for Big Boss’s body and helps him find Naomi Hunter, which the forces took away Liquid Ocelot. But he appears live only when Gekko becomes too much, and shows his new essence, strong and merciless to enemies. Having easily destroyed more than a dozen Gekko, he is eventually captured and meets Vampa, now working for Ocelot. After Vamp stabs Raiden twice, Snake shoots off one of the cables and frees the captive. After this, a fight ensues between the vampire and the cyborg ninja, during which Raiden receives severe damage, and the Vamp falls “dead”. He jumps into Otacon’s helicopter and begins to convulse due to blood loss. However, he learns from Naomi why Vampa cannot be killed. Already on board the helicopter he becomes even worse, and the only hope for his salvation is Dr. Madnar, who is able to transfuse him with “white blood” and perform dialysis. Naomi begins to sympathize with him, because she understands that Raiden and her brother have, Frank Yeager, quite similar fates.
After operations, he joins Snake on Shadow Moses Island and saves his life by destroying Suicide Gekko. After which he leaves Snake alone with the walking machines, and he goes to the now mortal Vampa on the roof MG REX. During a difficult and tough duel, he gives Vampa peace – he kills him once and for all. After this, he gives Naomi an encryption from Sunny, which means that the virus FOXALIVE modified, and subsequently escapes with Snake on MG REX away from the underground complex. Halfway there, he jumps out of the car to distract Gekko, but does not have time to escape from the tunnel and is covered with stones. Soon he sees that Liquid’s flagship is already rushing at full speed towards the pier, where the exhausted Solid is sitting, but cannot get out from under the rubble. After asking Sunny for forgiveness, he cuts off his right hand and stops the huge ship, but soon Raiden can’t stand it and falls right under it.
He survives, but cannot fight effectively. But he proves the opposite: he gets on board Ocelot’s ship and saves Snake from a detachment of Liquid’s personal guard approaching him – FROGS with a sword in his own teeth. He tells Snake that he will go into the corridor leading to GW and emitting microwaves, but Snake convinces him to stay and cover the exit. A little later, a battle ensues between them, but the numerical superiority makes itself felt: Raiden is pierced by blades and knocked to the floor. At the very last moment, the SOP stops functioning and all of Liquid’s soldiers begin to have seizures, which saves Raiden.
After the incident, his combat exoskeleton is replaced with another one, which completely copies the human body. Rose and Campbell’s son visit him in rehab, John. She confesses to him that the miscarriage was a lie and she married Roy in order to protect herself and the child from Patriot Zero. He also realizes that John is his child, and she staged her miscarriage so that the Patriots would receive false information about Rose’s pregnancy. After talking with Rose, he swore to her that he would stop wandering and running away from his past and start living a normal life as an ordinary person who has happiness. And he doesn’t need more.
